Where to begin
DBT skills groups
consist of four modules:
- Mindfulness skills
- Distress tolerance skills
- Emotion regulation skills
- Interpersonal effectiveness skills
Advanced DBT Skills Groups
For individuals that have already completed a DBT Skills Group and want to take their skills to the next level, our Advanced DBT Skills Groups enable individuals to continue reinforcing these previously learned skills. Clients will also learn a variety of new advanced skills from a variety of sources to further their knowledge.
The Advanced DBT Skills Groups also differs from traditional skills groups in that they function as a hybrid skills group and process group. Some time will be spent drawing on skills from DBT, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), mindfulness, the works of Tara Brach, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Marsha Linehan, Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield,Thich Nhat Hanh, Adyashanti, Donald Altman, Michael Singer, and Brene Brown, among others. Additionally, time will be spent on traditional (Yalom) process group techniques to allow clients to experience support and interactions in a safe, supportive environment.
