Heather is a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical and a Board Certified Music Therapist. She provides services through individual therapy, group therapy, and parent support/coaching. She primarily utilizes strengths-based interventions, attachment and empowerment theories, cognitive behavioral therapy, and music therapy. She has also completed training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). 

Heather’s passion and strengths are in working with neurological and developmental disabilities, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and relational and social difficulties. She particularly enjoys working with young people struggling in their environments due to social and emotional challenges.

As a music therapist, Heather believes it is important to utilize alternative modalities in creating a safe, supportive, and productive space to work. Above all, it is necessary to be heard and to create new experiences in your journey to healing. Heather collaborates with teens and families to build skills in self-regulation and safety, self-esteem, communication and self-advocacy, problem-solving, and positive decision-making in order to achieve healthy well-being with the self, family, friends, and the community.

Heather has worked with adolescents, young adults, and families in crisis and in prevention work. She has experience in the school setting, serving as a member of the IEP team, and in the partial hospital setting, serving as a the primary clinician in the medical and academic support setting. Additionally, Heather has provided community music therapy groups to adults with disabilities. Heather supports children and adults in creating healthy and fulfilling experiences in school, at home, and in their social lives and leisure time.

Shelby is a Licensed Master of Social worker in both Maryland and New York. She provides her services predominately through individual therapy but believes in bringing in chosen family systems to promote healing in the form of couples and family therapy. She primarily uses strength based/solution focused interventions, attachment and relational theories, and experiential therapy.

Shelby’s passion and strengths are working with the LGBTQIA+ community, eating disorders, self-discovery, anxiety, depression, grief, and relational and social difficulties. She enjoys working with individuals who identify in struggling with life adjustments and social connectedness.

Shelby’s experience is working with LQBTQIA+, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and grief. She firmly believes that understanding the body’s response to life experiences and being informed on how your body functions in times of stress is the basis of reforming and creating an authentic self.  Shelby has over 5 years of experience working with adults and teens who have struggled with binge eating, purging, anorexia, orthorexia, excessive exercise, OSFED, ARFID and body image in settings like partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient. Shelby also completes evaluations to determine if you or your loved one is in need of more intensive/supportive eating disorder services. Her passion is to ensure that patients are supported, connected, and in the right level of treatment for recovery.

Shelby also offers bariatric evaluations that are required for the surgical process. She offers this service to help determine readiness, address any concerns for underlying eating disorder behavior, pre/post therapeutic support, and explore options outside of surgery.  She also works with your current team to help support this journey.

As a social worker and trauma-educated therapist, Shelby believes it is imperative to utilize different modalities to create a safe, supportive, and trauma-aware space to begin healing. Shelby collaborates with teens, adults, and families to help build supportive communication, establish reconnection, problem solve, and make positive decisions. She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy to continue to assist patients’ needs.

She received her Bachelor of Science in psychology, human services, and political science from Elmira College and her MSW from Keuka College. During her years of work, she has gained significant experience in outpatient, partial hospitalization, and substance abuse clinic settings.

Individual Therapy

Sam is a therapist who provides individual telehealth services to adults at the Counseling Center Group. Sam is a licensed master social worker with an MSW from Loyola University of Chicago. Sam works with a variety of clients and has experience working with anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. Sam places a high value on creating a welcoming atmosphere and recognizes that while therapy can be challenging, it can also be a space for irreverence.

Sam views therapy as means of uncovering those strengths and skills that individuals already possess but may have difficulty accessing effectively. He primarily employs DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), and mindfulness practices in preparing people to grow and refine their skills, eventually becoming their own therapists. Sam comes to therapy from a background in the academic study of mindfulness traditions and employs many mindfulness practices drawn from Buddhism within the context of therapy.

In addition to a degree in social work, Sam has a BA in religious studies from Northern Arizona University and a masters in theological studies from Harvard University’s Divinity School. Sam was pursuing a doctorate in the history of religions at University of Chicago before he decided to put his interest in mindfulness into practice; he left academia to pursue a career in social work and therapy.

Navigating the ebbs and flows of life can be hard, and Taylor works to offer her clients a soft space to learn to ride the waves and remember the truth of their inherent strength, goodness, and equanimity. Taylor is a licensed therapist (LGPC) who provides culturally competent in-person and telehealth services for individuals, groups, couples, and families in the state of Maryland. She is familiar with providing therapeutic services for individuals who experience anxiety, depression, intergenerational trauma, low self-esteem, and BIPOC-specific issues such as difficulty maneuvering through systematic oppression.

Taylor views therapy as a collaborative, creative, and mindful opportunity to model ideal well-being and interpersonal practices so that clients feel confident in who they are and how they take up space in the world. She has a very eclectic clinical style and enjoys individualizing it based on the different needs of her clients, as she deeply values the person-centered approach toward therapy where a compassionate therapeutic relationship is most important.

Taylor has completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and pulls from other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Buddhist Psychology in her sessions. In addition to earning her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, she also earned her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Individual Therapy

Ursula is a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) providing individual therapy. She previously worked as a clinical intern at Adventist Behavioral Health’s inpatient unit where she worked with high-risk adolescents. As a second-generation Croatian American, Ursula is familiar with the direct impact multiculturalism can have on one’s mental health and overall wellbeing. She also grew up in Montgomery County and understands the unique culture of growing up in an area with high academic pressures imposed on students. 

Ursula enjoys helping adolescents and young adults with transitions associated with adulthood and believes that a therapeutic relationship is built on trust and communication. Her previous experiences include conducting research and working on policy initiatives for various mental health topics, including children’s subjective wellbeing and addiction. Ursula has experience working with clients with diagnoses including anxiety, depression as well as suicidal ideation, self-harming behaviors, and a history of trauma. Ursula incorporates her knowledge and experience of both clinical and population level mental health into her therapeutic practice by using an ecological perspective. She understands how various systems in one’s environment affect individuals. Through humor and authenticity, Ursula works well with adolescents and young adults.

Ursula has received formal training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). She received her bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Psychology from American University and her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with a concentration in clinical behavioral health.

Individual Therapy

Ahuva is a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) providing individual therapy. She received her master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University’s School of Social Work on the advanced clinical track. Ahuva’s practice is built upon trust and creating a non-judgmental and welcoming environment for her clients, where they truly feel heard and supported.

Ahuva is passionate about working with clients with generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, specific phobias, intimate partner violence, school and work related stress, and all types of relationship issues. Ahuva is enthusiastic about employing all aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), specifically exposure therapy when necessary. Ahuva has completed the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Foundational Training through the Linehan Institute and is eager to utilize DBT with her clients.

Ahuva has most recently worked with adolescents at a high school in Rockville, Maryland where she specifically addressed adjustment issues with students new to high school as well as students experiencing anxiety and depression. Ahuva also completed a clinical internship working with survivors of domestic violence at Shalom Task Force, a non-profit organization in New York City.

Ahuva’s goal is to introduce her clients to the skills and tools that they need in order to be most successful on their own, as well as using the best evidence-based treatment plan for each client’s individual needs.
