Katie is passionate about collaborating with adolescents, adults, and families to create lives they experience as worth living. She works with people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, self-injury, and suicidal ideation. She provides individual, group, and family therapy, and she strives to create a genuine, validating environment while implementing evidence-based methods to assist clients in meeting their own needs and goals. Katie believes that the therapeutic relationship is a real relationship between equals. She is committed to pursuing anti-oppressive practice and has extensive experience working with members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Katie has experience providing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in a child welfare residential program to youth who have experienced complex trauma. She has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health centers, crisis hotlines, and middle schools. Katie has been intensively trained in DBT through Behavioral Tech, LLC, and she has also received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention.
Katie earned her Master of Social Work at the Columbia School of Social Work, where she graduated from the DBT Training Program and Lab. Prior, she graduated from the University of South Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Spanish. Katie lives in Manhattan with her partner, dog, and cat.
