Kristina Amerikaner, LMSW, PMH-C

Kristina Amerikaner, LMSW, PMH-C is a clinical therapist licensed in New Jersey and New York. Kristina works with adults, children, families, and couples, offering a thoughtful, collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported as they work toward meaningful change. Her approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that growth happens best when people feel safe, respected, and emotionally connected.

Kristina earned her Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University. Before becoming a therapist, she worked as a sleep and behavior coach for parents of babies and young children, supporting dozens of families through periods of stress, transition, and imbalance. This work deepened her understanding of family systems, attachment, and the ways individual wellbeing and relationships are deeply intertwined—and ultimately led her to pursue advanced clinical training.

Kristina draws from a range of evidence-based modalities to tailor therapy to each client’s needs. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1) through The Gottman Institute, supporting couples in strengthening communication, rebuilding trust, and deepening emotional connection. She is also trained in EMDR SAFE (Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR) through the Personal Transformation Institute, an approach that emphasizes safety, regulation, and relational attunement in trauma work.

While Kristina works with clients across many life stages and presenting concerns, she also has specialized training in perinatal mental health and is certified as a Perinatal Mental Health Clinician (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International. This background allows her to thoughtfully support individuals and couples navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and the identity and relationship shifts that often accompany parenthood.

Kristina is currently accepting new clients and looks forward to connecting. She understands that reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and she is committed to creating a therapeutic relationship that feels welcoming, collaborative, and empowering from the very first conversation.
